Notes Edit

Baleful Gaze is actually even better than it sounds. On top of it being a "Pre-emptive strike" with unlimited uses (unlike the actual Pre-emptive strike) which deals Darkness damage (generally 0% resistance, while melee might resistance is more common), it also turns your Spiders towards it's attacker, resulting in that you can never get Backstabbed or Flanked (unless Pacified/Feeble Minded/Cursed with Ineptitude). But I should mention it's not all that, since the damage is fairly low (compared to "Pre-emptive strike") and getting turned might not always be the best case, since you might get your back turned against your enemies so that ranged shooters may Backstab or Flank you, a weakness a player would be wise to exploit in it's enemies.
